SCNTMIX research is where we publish the data behind our fragrance studies: which fragrances people are actually engaging with, how dupes compare with their originals, which perfumes layer best, and what samples really save you. Each study links to the full discussion thread and to the ranking or guide on SCNTMIX that the data feeds.

How we work: every study says exactly what we measured and where the numbers came from, including the limits of the data. No brand pays to be included. See our sources.

Latest studies

We ran 12 creator layering combos through our mix engine

We scored layering pairs fragrance creators recommend. Most famous pairs held up, but some scored surprisingly low: Halfeti with Baccarat Rouge 540 came in at 76, and Wulong Cha with Greenley at 57. The ratio, not the bottle, usually fixes a weak combo.

We compared 20 dupes with their originals on current buzz

Some clones now draw more engagement than the bottles they copy. Rasasi Hawas Elixir pulled about 17 times the recent engagement of Le Male Elixir, while originals with hard-to-copy textures, like Tuscan Leather and Gris Charnel, are still clearly ahead.

We checked 2025–26's biggest fragrance releases

Brand-new names such as Prada Paradigme and MFK Oud Velvet Mood are drawing far more excitement than the latest "Elixir" and "Intense" versions of old favorites. Flanker fatigue is real.

We compared perfume samples with full bottles for 78 niche fragrances

For the price of one blind buy, you could test about 30 samples, and the smallest bottles cost the most per ml. The fragrances people regret most are rarely the expensive ones; they're the ones nobody sampled.

We scored 100 popular fragrances on what people are actually engaging with

September 2026

We compared 100 well-known fragrances on two numbers: how much they've ever been posted about, and how much engagement their recent posts get. Some "holy grails" have huge post counts but little current buzz, while smaller names like YSL Babycat and Commodity Milk Orchid punch far above their size.

  • Top of the list: Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, Lattafa Yara and Burberry Goddess.
  • Volume but not buzz: Baccarat Rouge 540, Bianco Latte, Tobacco Vanille, Santal 33 and Aventus.
